While dogs tend to get lots of exercise, cats are often left to
their own devices, having to find their own ways of exercising
if they are kept indoors.
Cats have gone from working animals to creatures of leisure. In
the past, a cat spent most of its day hunting, keeping the
homestead free of rodents. Today, most cats are pure companions
who spend the day waiting for their beloved human to return
home. Even if you work from home, it is important to set aside
some time to play with your cat. ...

Imagine that you are scolding your cat for scratching at your
new furniture, and Kitty is sitting staring at you. Suddenly you
realize how silly you look and how futile your scolding is. So
how do you train your cat to respect your home?
All cats can be trained and should have some training from their
owners. You will need to train your cat to use her litter box,
sharpen her claws on the scratching post instead of your couch,
and to stop negative behavior when you say "no." Cats can ...

Carl Icahn, the hostile takeover master who was THE original
corporate raider, is often quoted as saying, "In this business,
if you want a friend, get a dog!" The rest of us already knew
that dog was man's best friend, and with good reason. Dogs as
pets date back at least as far as the days of Pompeii, where the
remains of a dog stretched out next to a little boy were
recovered from the rubble at Pompeii.
We all know that dogs are cute, warm, and cuddly, requiring
little more than food, water, ...

A cat was run over on my busy street this weekend. It wasn't my
pet but it hurt just as much as if it was. This animal came into
our lives when we returned from walking in the park with our 3
yr. old son. A lady who lives across the street was trying to
keep it from running out into the road so I took it upon myself
to carry it back to our garage where we gave it food, water and
friendship for a few days. This cat was female and looked to be
only 6 months old; it was also very skinny and ...

If you have ever tried to take a picture of your dog, you will
realize how hard it is to capture the pups full personality and
beauty in a photograph. Dogs aren't human, and they don't
understand what we are doing when we try to take their photo.
They may think that the camera is a toy and charge at you,
instead of striking a pose. If you follow these tips, and take
your cues from your pet, you can be assured of great photos of
your pet.
Pets come in all colors. If your dog is dark, you will ...

When you're planning a party with your child for his birthday, consider going with an animal theme. It's sure to be a hit. Need convincing? Here's the top seven reasons why this is a great idea for your son or daughter's celebration. 1. Kids love animals. Just look at a the expression on a toddler's face when they see a puppy or kitten in a pet store window. Or watch children's reactions when they gaze at the different creatures at the zoo. It's easy to see that the little ones respond and ...

While it is a sick and sad thing to think about, animal abuse happens every day. There are many reasons why some people commit such horrible crimes. In many cases however, it has been proven time and time again that there is a link between animal abuse and domestic abuse. Those who commit acts of violence against lovers, children, and animals tend to do so because they feel empowered. They feel as though they can teach someone a lesson because the person or animal they are beating on is weaker ...

Incredible advances in veterinary medicine are making it
possible for cats to live longer, healthier lives than ever
before. The quality of your cat's health is the result of a
partnership between you and your veterinarian. You must be
confident that the vet you have chosen will take good care of
your cats.
When you first get your cat, be sure to have your veterinarian
examine her within 10 days. In addition to getting baseline
weights and measurements on her, your vet will want to check ...

It happens all too often. A family or cat friend gets adopted
by a stray cat. And after a few weeks it turns out she's
pregnant.
In the US alone there must be millions of sweet but homeless
cats. And many of them get pregnant several times a year. Nobody
really knows why, but pregnant strays often adopt a family
instead of the other way round. Maybe they search for support or
a good and warm home for their kittens.
Now, perhaps you don't have the space or time for a cat family.
Or there's ...
